Showmanship Clinic

A workshop on “Choosing, Presenting, and Showing Llamas” was offered at Jane Buxton’s Alpha Fields Llama Farm in Rangiora on October 21-22.  The presenter was Kathy Ross of Black Tie Llamas.  She has shown for 10 years in America both regionally and nationally.  The purpose of the clinic was to familiarize participants with techniques that improve one’s chances of winning in the show ring.   The viewpoint was from an exhibitor’s outlook rather than a judges.

The Second Annual Gathering & AGM was hosted by
Fred & Emma at Palmdale Llamas in Christchurch

Sunday 1st May 2005 & we were off to Spencerville Beach. Another ideal day weather-wise & soon several pairs of toes were dipping into the light surf. It wasn't long before several beach visitors joined in, and once again the Palmdale llamas did their human family proud, meeting & greeting and of course sampling the odd leafy takeaways.

VetCheck with Dave Martin.
Saturday afternoon saw the arrival of local vet Dave Martin from the Rangiora Veterinary Centre who gave a relaxed & informative presentation.    Dave is one of the more experienced camelid vets around and it was also a good opportunity to ask questions and tap into his experiences & thoughts on different health issues. I'm sure everyone learnt something, it was very worthwhile.

Saturday 30th April 2005
The final of 4 Llama Fun Days held at Palmdale, Christchurch. Fred brought in his special 4 month Silver Joey for a leading lesson, which was so successful that soon a  confident young girl named Mackenzie was leading him through the course, the two of them looking like old hands.  Well done, Fred & Emma and also to grand-daughters Kayla & Danielle, who helped all the kids & their llamas.

The winners of the Fun days were drawn from a hat containing the names of all the entrants.

1st Mackenzie  Bremmer
2nd Laura Maxwell
3rd Jake McCarthy

There was a two dollar entry fee collected over the four days and as a result of this $200 donation went to The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand from NZLA.
