NZLA Performance Clinics with Joanne Shook (USA)

Saturday Feb 21: Joanne Shook from the USA demonstrates the commands for backing up, with Rangemore Jos West. Northland members watch on, before attempting the same move with their llama.

After the performance clinic. Joanne took Jos for a cart drive. She enjoyed his quick pace and focus.

Saturday 28th February

The Joanne Shook obstacle training clinic was hosted by Diane and Blair Kelly at their lovely Canterbury property, aptly named “Home Farm.”

Diane and Blair did themselves proud, the preparation and planning that had gone into the set up was really commendable.

Saturday 7th March

A great day was had by all. Obstacles were gathered from around the property to make an instant course on Penny King’s front lawn at Karma Llamas, Waitakere.

Several attendees were new to llamas and they were amazed with the relationship formed with their new llama buddy.

Our thanks to Penny King for hosting the 2008 AGM over Anzac weekend.

AGM weekend 2008

Saturday 26th April. Twelve llama enthusiasts with ten llamas & their packs gathered for two loop walks along the beach, bush and sand dunes of Bethells Beach on Auckland's west coast.

Penny makes sure the flaming star saddle is securely fitted, before Clar Innis Wind Dancer is led away by Geoff Clark. Robyn Robinson looks on.

After a brief walk through a pine forest, we ventured onto a large sand dune which took us to a freshwater lake just out from the bush.

Being late Autumn, the lake was not warm enough for a swim, but some of the llamas took the opportunity to grab a drink.

This photo could have been taken in a desert. The llamas traversed the scene with great interest and took it all in stride!

After a yum lunch, the group headed along the beach. Weather was great, and the surf crashed loudly on the shore. No llamas went swimming...

Uta from New Plymouth and Max the llama, enjoying the long winding Bethells Beach, originally called Te Henga.

Sunday 27th
The rain arrived today, but it didn't stop taking the opportunity to weigh some of Penny's llamas, using portable scales.
